Since arriving in Toronto years ago，many friends told me to go and visit the Toronto Islands because it’s the thing to do during the long hot summer days in the city.Yet for some strange reasons，I’ve never made it over there.But when I created my list of things to do in Toronto last month，it was one of the first things to come to mind.Now I’m very pleased to say that I finally knocked that one off the list because this past weekend，we went to the islands.

  We decided to check out Centre Island and took the ferry，which is located behind the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel and easily accessible from the TTC (Union Station to Harbour front streetcar)．

  When we arrived on Saturday morning，we joined the crowd to catch a ferry to the island.Honestly，when I first saw the number of people in the dock line-up，it almost turned us all around in defeat.But I decided to wait，and was pleasantly surprised how fast the line moved (Time Saver：take cash for the ferry，for most lines were cash only —trip cost us 16 dollars：adult：6.50/child 2—14 yrs：3.00)．

  Boats leave approximately every half-hour between 8 a．m.and midnight，and we took the Centre Island ferry.Once we arrived，we walked off into the huge park without knowing what to do next.But I was pleasantly surprised to see there were lots of things to do for all ages and budgets.

  Free maps were for the taking and there were a few tourist information kiosks (信息站) right off the docks.Based on the map we decided to head to the south side of the island towards the beaches that line the shoreline and then spend the day walking our way back.The first place we passed on our walk was the Centreville Amusement Park.I wish I had brought the camera to take pictures of Gigi when she spotted the ferry wheel next to the swan boat rides.Both things made her go wide-eyed.This was definitely on our list of things to check out.
